Overview

Endobronchial ultrasound has quickly become the standard of care in the diagnosis and staging of thoracic malignancy as well as benign diseases. Now with the introduction of robotic bronchoscopy, there has been another major advancement in the role of bronchoscopy for accessing peripheral pulmonary lesions. Optimally performing these procedures, in appropriate patients, is paramount, and requires proper training of the entire team involved.

This year, we’re adding a special session on bronchoscopic lung ablation and cryobiopsy via EBUS and robotic assisted bronchoscopy. Also, an emphasis on teamwork will be made, as well as collaboration during hands-on sessions. Additionally, we are pleased to offer a team discount for 1 physician and 1 RN/PA/NP/RT from the same organization (see details below under registration).  This well-received annual CME course reviews these crucial advanced diagnostic and staging procedures, how to optimize performance in a multidisciplinary team-oriented fashion, and provides hands-on workshops with expert faculty.

2022 Lectures Topics

  • Bronchoscopic Lung Ablation
  • EBUS TBNA
  • Cryobiopsy Part 1: EBUS Intranodal Cryobiopsy
  • Cryobiopsy Part 2: Transbronchial Lung Cryobiopsy
  • Robotic Assisted Bronchoscopy (2 part series in depth lecture)

This educational activity is endorsed by the American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (AABIP).

Who Should Attend

This course is intended for practicing Pulmonologists, Intensivists, and Thoracic Surgeons, as well as trainees, RNs, APPs, RTs, and cytotechnologists, interested in advancing their understanding of advanced bronchoscopy for diagnostics, including robotic assisted bronchoscopy, radial endobronchial ultrasound, and other navigational bronchoscopy, and cytologic specimen processing.

Objectives
  1. Implement advanced diagnostic bronchoscopy for peripheral pulmonary lesions, including radial endobronchial ultrasound, robotic bronchoscopy
  2. Explain the science and recognize the importance of cytology and specimen processing
  3. Discuss the science, technique, and role of cryobiopsy during bronchoscopy
  4. Apply the team concept approach to performing advanced bronchoscopy procedures
