This CME program is a wide-ranging review of the key topics in internal medicine. It addresses best practice guidelines for the management of various acute and chronic medical conditions, keeps you abreast of the latest developments in the field, and helps you incorporate current knowledge into daily practice. UCSF Advances in Internal Medicine includes case-based lectures on topics like advances in heart failure management, chronic kidney disease, the current approach to thyroid nodules, management of lipid disorders, etc. It will help you to:

  • Identify and manage a wide variety of acute and chronic medical problems
  • Integrate current guidelines into daily practice when dealing with atrial fibrillation, coronary artery disease (CAD), anticoagulation management, chronic kidney disease, and preoperative medical evaluation, etc.
  • Illustrate adept management of medical problems traditionally treated by specialists, like heart failure, end-of-life care, hepatitis B and C infections, etc.
  • Recognize the indications that require subspecialty referral

Learning Objectives

After viewing this program, participants should be able to:

  • Better manage commonly encountered chronic medical problems such as hyperlipidemia, diabetes, osteoporosis, obstructive lung disease, gout, and headaches, as well as acute conditions such as skin and soft tissue infections, diarrhea, and musculoskeletal injuries
